action in the history of the American republic. Although there is no formal declaration of war from which to date U.S. entry, President John F. Kennedy’s decision to send over 2,000 military advisers to South Vietnam in 1961 marked the beginning of twelve years of American military combat. U.S. unit combat began in 1965. The number of US. troops steadily increased until it reached a peak of 543,400 in April 1969. The total number of Americans who served in South Vietnam was 2.7 million.”

This is my President. I support him but this is one time I just don’t think I buy it. I will continue to support him because that is what we do in America; unless you are a $Republican$ of course. But then that isn’t the only reason to suspect the Republicans loyalty to America; $$$

I think he knows as well as we do where this decision is taking us.

Everyone who lived through the Viet-Nam war knows.

We lived through the last time we “Sent a few advisors”

Of course in order the maintain plausible deniability The President can’t admit that he knows. He must pretend to believe we’re just sending a few advisors with no connection to the decision to send  troops “en force” that he will make in a few months.

He will do this because he believes it to be necessary. He will do it this way because he as well as every past President is influenced by the Military and Intelligence Establishment who keep constant fear in our hearts and The President’s as well.

Their party never changes as does the party of the current president. They are Conservatives. They have to be in order to protect their own jobs. People with more progressive solutions than bombing other nations into submission and imprisoning and torturing their combatants might actually solve the very problems that keep them seeming so necessary.

President Obama is not the mover and shaker here. Unfortunately he is just another guy being duped by the $Republican Military Complex$ and the Republican Intelligence Community so he doesn’t interfere with business as usual for the war mongering Fascists of the Republican Party.

Any Questions?

Man, there’s no difference between republicans and democrats. Yeah, follow the money. Do yourself a favour and find who sponsors both. Because of people like you, who treat parties like a religion or your national team, this world will be never free. There are a lot of ‘religious’ people.

Yeah Jack. I think there is.
I am not saying that the Democrats are perfect or that Republicans have a monopoly on corruption or anything even remotely like that BUT, there is a HUGE difference between the two parties.

Even if you don’t like either Party; as it seems you don’t; you must at least recognize the difference between the two.

Where they are alike, it is a shame. (We would find much more to agree on where that subject is concerned I am sure)

Where they are different is where I focus my attention because there we find a real difference in philosophy.
The difference is becoming greater; the gap widening with each new administration.

Bernie Sanders is the first candidate with the word “Socialist” attached to him who has ever made a bid for the Presidency worth taking seriously.
His winning is perhaps not likely but it is now possible, and if the right things should fall the right way; who knows?
Either way the door has been opened for a more progressive Party and that, my friend is what the working people; the poor; the disenfranchised need.

    Here’s one of those similarities:

On 11 December 1961 the United States aircraft carrier USNS Card docked in downtown Saigon with 32 U. S. Army H-21 heli- copters and 400 men. The 57th Transportation Company (Light Helicopter) from Fort Lewis, Wash., and the 8th Transportation Company (Light Helicopter) from Fort Bragg, N. C., had arrived in Southeast Asia. This event had a two-fold significance: it was the first major symbol of United States combat power in Vietnam; and, it was the beginning of a new era of airmobility in the United States Army.

Just twelve days later these helicopters were committed into the first airmobile combat action in Vietnam, Operation CHOPPER. Approximately 1,000 Vietnamese paratroopers were airlifted into a suspected Viet Cong headquarters complex about ten miles west of the Vietnamese capitol. The paratroopers captured an elusive underground radio transmitter after meeting only slight resistance from a surprised enemy. Major George D. Hardesty, Jr. of the 8th Transportation Company and Major Robert J. Dillard of the 57th could report that their units had performed outstandingly under their first baptism of fire.

The events of December 1961 prefaced a decade of unparalleled growth of airmobility. But they also were a culmination of many decisions during the preceding decade which allowed the President of the United States to exercise this option in support of the Government of Vietnam.

Been saving this for a spell for this anniversary weekend. 🙂
