Why I left the GOP

This is a fairly long read but well worth the time and effort. I was pinned to the screen from the first word to the last. Goes to show what I always say; that when Republicans and Democrats say “American People” They are speaking of two, distinct groups of people who are almost completely separate from each other. Thanks to Ms. K for another insightful article. This story is not so far from my own. I got chills and wanted to reach out to this poor guy. I totally get where he is coming from. Awakening is always painful.

I used to be a serious Republican, moderate and business-oriented, who planned for a public-service career in Republican politics.  But I am a Republican no longer.

There’s an old joke we Republicans used to tell that goes something like this: “If you’re young and not a Democrat, you’re heartless. If you grow up and you’re not a Republican, you’re stupid.” These days, my old friends and associates no doubt consider me the butt of that joke.
