This is the unvarnished truth. Greed and oppression of those less fortunate than they has been the “American Way” for approximately 25% of the population since the very beginning. Another 25% are willing victims and support their actions. Glamourizing the American experience will not get us to the place we are going.
We need to end this pulpy, sentimental patriotism based on a false history and face who we are and what we are and try to improve what we have rather than stand; as if in quick-sand. We need a new Patriotism based on pride in fairness and justice; humility and honesty.
