What Is Restrained Capitalism?

23 Jul

capitalism unchecked An excellent question “Grasshopper”.

“Restrained Capitalism” is a system where those who are inclined to be Capitalists are encouraged to do so; to the extent that it benefits rather than harms the nation.

Having a wealthy Capitalist class is excellent because it assures that we will always have enough money flowing through our system to support everyone.

Allowing those Capitalists to restrict the flow of money within our system is the point at which;  the Capitalist organ becomes cancerous and destructive to the body (nation). At this point the Capitalists must be restrained. Limited as to how much of the money they be allowed to hoard rather than pass it aroiund in the form of wages and benefits.

It does mean that the Capitalists will make less profit but it assures a healthy nation and economy and so may lead to greater profits. If not; be assured that no wealthy Capitalist will notice the difference in his lifestyle. Millions of Americans who work for a living will though.

Raise the minimum wage to say; twenty dollars per hour. Pay those “NOT ABLE” to work the same.

Those who simply will not work need to be handles in a more restrictive manner perhaps but the number will indeed be few when it is seen what a realistic amount of effort will bring.

This. This, is “Restrained Capitalism” Caitalism that benefits our nation rather than destroying it through it’s unrestrained greed. Capitalism that pays for all of our needs including the best healthcare for every breathing human in our nation.

This requires a different kind of government. Not “NO government” just  better government. Is it an easy transition? No it isn’t. primarily because Capitalists are scared to death. In the end though it is the only choice we have if we are to remain a free nation and a free people.

Unrestrained Capitalism has brought much progress (if you call what we have done progress) but it has also brought us to the verge of social upheaval and placed us firmly on a path to violent revolution; to what end is yet to be seen.

It has depleted the Middle Class and expanded the ranks of the poor. Whether you wish to admit it or not. The numbers as great as these don’t lie. Simple statistics; records of our finances; our purchases etc.

It has not resulted in a more free nation. It has resulted in a more confused one.

What option do you offer? None. You suggest we continue to allow these Capitalists to gain more and more power and ever greater fortunes while they refuse to allow the masses to live freely. That is the path we are on. the same one that leadfs to that violent revolution and/or Civil War.

As I see it; the move to “Restrained Capitalism” is the last vine to grasp before we float over the waterfall to our death.

You have been very thought provokiing. We do have a depleted middle class and it is not good for our nation as a whole. If 2008, happens in the near future I predict many riots and suffering for America. Hugs, Barbara

What you propose is NOT a “free nation” and “free people” it is glorified slavery and will not work as it never has anywhere it has been tried. People will not work if they are to be fleeced and the fruits of their labor stolen from them and given to someone else. Capitalism gives everybody the OPPORTUNITY to succeed no matter what station in life you start at. That’s why people have risked everything to get here because here they have a chance to succeed. Will everyone do what it takes to succeed? No, but you can do it if you want to? What is holding you back? NOTHING!
People have come to this country and made it who are black, white, Chinese, you name it. Some couldn’t even speak English and made it. You can legislate opportunity but you can’t legislate results. Some people won’t even try and why should they? You advocate paying them close to 40K a year now to do nothing. Why work and be productive when all you get for that is condemnation and penalty. You reward incompetence and punish productivity. How long do you figure people will sign up for that deal? You are beginning to see the results of that policy. Look at Detroit the vestige of Progressive , Liberal policies for the past 50 years coming to a town near you. Wake up! It won’t work.

Unencumbered capitalism is pretty much anarchy. All anyone will care about is getting what’s best for them. We pretty much have that now. We let the “ME” generation get control, but they don’t take any responsibility. They remain anonymous behind the person with no soul, the corporation. Slavery is what the 99% in this country have now. We work harder and become more productive every year. Do we share in the profits of the hard work? No, we get laid off or made part time because healthcare is too expensive. We lose jobs at the Twinkie factory because the company wants to dissolve the union. True slavery at least had owners who provided food, shelter and clothing. I am not saying it was good, but the owners had some incentive to keep workers alive. Not so true anymore.

Brilliant. I see your point. All the benefits of slavery for the Capitalists with none of the responsibility. We have recently been discussing the fact that the Right is attempting to take us back to the days of slavery for the African Americans. I think it’s true but I think they intend for all of the poor and middle class to be slaves to the corporate giants. I do suspect they will try to use black slaves to make white slaves feel superior and keep the anger between the races hot and distracting. It’s a shit sandwich and once again while we all get the sandwich; black folks won’t even get any of the bread. The cold-bloodedness of the plans and actions of these Capitalist “un-humans” gives us reason to wonder as to their exact nature and origin perhaps. The mind boggles at the possibilities.
