See what happens when you get all passionate and shit. This is a great piece of blogging. This is the truth. This makes a big, strong, white man tear up. I have often tried to imagine what it is like to be Black in America. I’ll never know how close I can come but I am sure I fall way shy of the actual experience. Whenever I have tried however; the one emotion that I can get in touch with is Fear. Terrible fear. I think it must take courage for a Black man to just get up and go to work. It isn’t popular for white people to admit to such things. Even among those sympathetic to the anti-racist cause; there is a tendency to view things a bit too academically; to feel the fear is a sobering thing. Introspection and meditation; though oft ridiculed; are of inestimable value in our quest to truly connect and empathize with other people of all races.
